String Theory is a physical modeling string synth that offers a very wide range of plucked string and hybrid synth sounds. It comes with nice 173 presets but experimentation is very much encouraged as it can lead you in directions you may never have thought the synth could go. String Theory offers dual phrase arpeggiators. Each arp has it’s own speed, gate, and octave controls which allows for far more complex patterns than the average arp and can also help better simulate guitar finger picking.
String Theory is delay based synth and can be a real CPU hungry if you are not careful 🙂 In addition, some combinations of settings can result in quite big feedback and individual notes with ridiculously loud volume compared to those around it.
Most free VST plugins are distributed just with a single dll file, so I guess it’s worth mentioning that String Theory comes with nice PDF manual.
