It’s been a long time since I added (is this correct ? Damn it 😉 I always had a problem with “it’s been a long time since…” sentence – if you know some good learning english resource, let me know 🙂 ) last plugin to the VstCafe’s recommended plugins “database”.
I’ve just found tiny, but actually very helpful plugin created by Cableguys company. If you take a look at their website, you’ll quickly realise that one thing describes these Germans well – they, just like Ableton, are situated in Berlin and they, just like Ableton :), are very creative programmers.
Actually all of their plugins (commercial and free one Curve – presented on VstCafe too) have received positive feedback from magazines such as ComputerMusic and SoundOnSound. PanCake – that’s the plugin I would like to introduce, is no exception here. It’s innovative vst effect plugin that allows you to create flexible pan modulations. You can draw your own modulation curves, and do this in a very intuitive manner, with impressive precision and unparalleled ease. You can sync modulation with the beat (for example, drawed modulation curve can last for 2 bars, 32 bars, 1/128 bars etc.) or set some fixed value (in Hz). I tried this plugin and definitely it stays in my effects arsenal – it’s just very handy.
PanCake is available both for Windows and Mac.
CableGuys PanCake is one of the entries for KVR Developer Challenge 2009 competition – there are quite a lot of creative plugins. Check them out – I’ll surely add some to VstCafe soon. Voting for the best plugin will begin on Monday 2nd November. The current prize fund is $760 (will be distributed to the eventual winners) – you can donate via Paypal if you want to support plugin developers.
