TX16Wx is a free, multitimbral VSTi Software Sampler instrument plugin, with multiple outs, graphical keymapping edit, sampling and sampler editor. It's modelled after professional hardware samplers from the 80s and 90s, mostly the Yamaha TX16W with NuEdge Typhoon. Judging by community response, it's a nice piece of software with frequent updates. At the moment WAV/AIFF/AIFC/SoundFont 2 are supported + Typhoon compressed AIF files. More features below:

What makes it really unique is the honorable approach of making a INDEPENDENT sampler. You do not need to buy special sample librarys (Kontakt or Halion), but you can use it independently.
That's real free-ware - beeing free to decide for which samples to use it... :-)
