Solo Acoustic Guitar

This acoustic guitar instrument for NI Kontakt (4.2 and above) has a rich, mellow tone. Designed mainly for single note playing, it is suitable for melody lines, instrumental fill passages, solos and riffs within song structures. Convincing results can be easily achieved using velocity sensitivity to introduce a variety of articulations. A selection of string scrapes is also included.

For 4.99 UK Pounds it’s quite a no-brainer, especially if you’re looking for Acoustic Guitar 🙂

Yamaha DX7 Jazz Guitar Soundfont

It’s a Yamaha DX7 Jazz Guitar patch turned into Soundfont format (SF2) with small help of an application called DXulator. As author states “I find the Jazz Guitar emulation to be much more realistic than the sounds in FM7 or FM8 [Software emulations of DX7]”. The weight is 65 mb and the audio demo uses bit of compression, flange and echo. All credit goes to the author

Cheap Behringer real electric guitar Soundfont

Well, it’s cheap Behringer electric guitar recorded and made into Sounfont (SF2) file. It’s free, public domain, size is 19.5 MB.

It’s not a great thing by itself, and there are some slightly detuned samples, but all in all, it works great for me. Or, at least, when I use VSTs of virtual amps, I get a better sound with this SF2 than with other ones I’ve got on the web; I suppose it’s the tone of it, very muddy and cheap and gritty and real. No velocity mapping, because I’m lazy.

Spicy Guitar – Free Acoustic Guitar Vsti

I didn’t have an opportunity to test Spicy Guitar properly but quick test shows that we have a nice freebie here 🙂 It’s an acoustic guitar simulation synthesizer which introduces 9 real guitars (4 folk, 2 classical, 1 flamenco, 1 jumbo, 1 gypsy) modeled, “intuitive” chord detection system and wide range of guitarist playing techniques such as bends, vibrato, palm muting, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and artificial harmonics.

Overall, it seems a very playable virtual instrument. It’s available both for PC & Mac and as far as I remember it was a payware (or donationware) before.

SuperRiff Guitar / Bass Vst Instrument

SuperRiff Guitar & Bass are very simple virtual instruments that contain a limited set of custom electric and bass guitar single note samples for use in computer music production. So it’s not another cabinet emulation plugin – it’s pure synth, easy to use, fun to play. Well, it’s more like a rompler 🙂

The idea with SuperRiff Guitar/Bass was to create a soundset of samples that contain the most basic ways of getting sound from a guitar (at least in the rock world) and to combine them in such a way that all they could be used to create a simple but reasonable rhythm/lead or bass guitar performance.
Both guitar and bass plug-ins have been created with rock type productions in mind but of course can be used in any genre.
