EDM Factory 2 soundbank for Sylenth1 released

Shameless promotion 😉 EDM Factory 2 soundset for Sylenth synth is the result of my hobby – sound design. Moving sliders, tweaking knobs make me feel calm, relaxed 🙂 During last half year I spent many evenings doing this and the result is around 140 presets suited for Electronic Dance Music genres. And since I just love melodies, then it’s mostly about leads / synth presets (64), big-room / dance pluck sounds (42) and 32 stylish, modern pad sounds.

The bank is not free, the minimum donation is 15 $, which is, I hope, very fair price (especially compared to 64 preset banks offered for 20-25 $). I use donations to pay hosting (ie. a week ago – 72 $), to have a coffee available when googling for some interesting music production releases etc. 🙂

Ethnic Flute – Expressive World music flute for NI Kontakt

Designed for Kontakt 4.2 or above, Ethnic Flute is a generic sounding wooden flute suitable for many styles of World music. The instrument uses velocity switching to give a natural sounding performance simply by playing the split keyboard (staccato notes on the lower keys, various sustained articulations on the upper). A selection of breaths is also included. Volume can be adjusted using the modulation wheel.

Sounds like a bargain (if you need flute 🙂 ) …

The price is 3.99 UK Pounds and the product is available via Sampleism

Solo Acoustic Guitar

This acoustic guitar instrument for NI Kontakt (4.2 and above) has a rich, mellow tone. Designed mainly for single note playing, it is suitable for melody lines, instrumental fill passages, solos and riffs within song structures. Convincing results can be easily achieved using velocity sensitivity to introduce a variety of articulations. A selection of string scrapes is also included.

For 4.99 UK Pounds it’s quite a no-brainer, especially if you’re looking for Acoustic Guitar 🙂

Hideway Studio – Sustained Pluck & Flux Reversal Blue – NI Kontakt Instruments

About a week or two ago, I mentioned about nice series of experimental NI Kontakt electronic textures, instruments called The Blue Zone, created by Hideaway Studio. While, I don’t have any of these, I think that it’s a pretty neat source of some unusual sounds. For example some new additions – Sustained Hall Pluck and Flux Reversal (made with a blend of several layers including three warm gently overdriven tube signal generators, a series of reversed glassy digital hybrid bells and three analog waveforms from old signal generators mixed in a super smooth sequence using a pendulum orbiting in a bath of brine water!).

The price is 1.5 UK pounds (around ~ 2.5 $ ?) per each.

Kalimba – African thumb piano for Kontakt

Another (I hope) interesting find, and affordable too 🙂 – the kalimba (also known as an Mbira or Thumb piano). It is an African instrument consisting of metal tines attached to a wooden board which are plucked with the thumbs. This Kontakt instrument features eight non-western scale tines sampled at four velocities to create an authentic sound. The instrument has been recorded dry without effects although some reverb has been added to the demo.

It costs 1.99 UK Pounds.

The Bandoneon – NI Kontakt Instrument

The bandoneón is a type of concertina particularly popular in Argentina, Uruguay and Lithuania which is an essential instrument in most tango ensembles from the traditional orquesta típicas of the 1910s onwards and in folk music ensembles of Lithuania.

The bandoneón, so named by the German instrument dealer, Heinrich Band (18211860), was originally intended as an instrument for religious music and the popular music of the day, in contrast to its predecessor, the German concertina (or Konzertina), considered to be a folk instrument by some modern authors. German sailors and Italian seasonal workers and emigrants brought the instrument with them to Argentina in the late 19th century, where it was incorporated into the local music, such as tango. [via Wikipedia]

Would you like to have the Bandoneón in your NI Kontakt ? To be honest, I don’t know if there are some other Bandoneon kontakt libraries but this one seems great (judging by audio demos, comments etc.).

This particular Bandoneón was recorded in Buenos Aires, Argentina by the renowned composer Guillermo Guareschi. It is a “Premier” Bandoneón with a sweet and expressive sound. One Neumann microphone was in charge of register for the left hand where all the bass notes are generated plus an additional ribbon microphone that handled the very low frequencies with precision. The right hand was captured by a modified SE A5600 II tube microphone and an AKG mic was set to record the natural high roof ambience of the recording studio. All the microphones were connected to vintage Telefunken preamplifiers that delivered the signal directly without any console or black box in the chain.

The library “weights” almost 800 mb, and requires full NI Kontakt 4.2 (and above).

Price ? 13.99 UK Pounds

The Blue Zone Series – Exotic Sounds, Textures for NI Kontakt

The Blue Zone is a series of one-off experimental electronic textures and instruments created by Hideaway Studio, suited for NI Kontakt software. The price of each “instrument” is very affordable – 1.50 UK Pounds. Which one I like the most ? Well, I don’t have any of them, but judging by audio demos I like The Electron Forest. It was made by mixing the hand cranked output of two 1960s tube sinewave generators running well above the audible range (60 to 100kHz). This produced upper and lower sidebands, the lower being in the audio range. This was passed through a tube EQ resulting in a super smooth superheterodyne effect much like tuning an old AM radio but with no extraneous noise. The Theremin works on a very similar principle.

Now I know, how to make a soundtrack for some oldschool 1960s Science-Fiction / Ufo movie ;D Of course, other entries are also interesting.

Hollow Sun – Vital Organs

Hollow Sun Vital Organs is a collection of organ sounds, useful for any number of musical genres. There are 35 different organ sounds from Hammond B3s, rock, jazz to church and cathedral sounds with distortion, cab simulator, rotary cab and reverb effects. Looks like great NI Kontakt library and, what’s important, the price is very, very affordable. Just 2 UK pounds which means 17.5p per each preset.

Reed Chord Organs: Bontempi B3, Magnus 360, MicrOrgan and Supertone multisampled

And yet another interesting project from Sampleism – Community Based / Small, Independent Developers sample libarries. This time it’s 4 different Reed Chord Organs: Bontempi B3, Magnus 360, MicrOrgan and Supertone made by Les Productions Zvon. The library is available in two formats: SFZ (you can use great and free Beat Zampler) and NI Kontakt format.

Kontakt versions have 72 instruments and multis made with the original samples and 26 instruments using the tone or time machine engines, custom skins and scripts (2 scripts for K4 and 1 for K3.5). Also the Kontakt versions include instruments with original tuning of the instruments and retuned instruments. The sfz version has 27 definition files.

The library is currently 50 % off which means the cost of 3.25 UK pounds. Is it worth ? Well, the author bought all these organs at a local flea market, sampled so I guess it’s worth much more. Also the audio demo is nice 🙂
